Nouveau Bleu

New Blue
This collection was worked in tandem with the Trésor Découvert Series. It is based on the same principles and takes the same points of influence, speaking about the highly prestigious Porcelain wares produced at the Royal Sevres Factory in the late 17th and 18th Centuries. Objets d’art produced there were so refined and tightly controlled they carried no visible suggestion of their material identity and so lavishly decorated that each detail was left in competition on the surface, striving to attract attention.

The Nouveau Bleu “Sketch Vases” work to establish a new dialogue between the form and decoration and the application of colour whilst still referencing and paying homage to the originals, hinting at the decadent and the extraordinary. Worked in a dynamic and lively expression they seek to give them a new lease of life, bridging the gap between the past and the present, finding a new home in contemporary culture. The thumb-pressed illustrated platters aim to join in this celebration and work to commemorate them looking to capture this new essence.
